Cadillac Records, LA premiere

Well the holidays have begun and the movies continue to come in. As with every Christmas holiday there has to be a film to get you grooving out of your seat, and this years film is Cadillac Records. The rise and fall of Chess Records, which launched the careers of Muddy Waters, Etta James and Chuck Berry. Leonard Chess scoured the South, checking out the various blues scenes and selling records from the back of his Cadillac.

It all started with a few records sold out of the back of Leonard Chess's Cadillac. During two turbulent decades of history, the music machine Chess Records oversaw the rise of such legendary artists as Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Etta James, and Bo Diddley. In this true-life musical drama, writer-director Darnell Martin chronicles not only the life of Leonard Chess, but also the racial issues of the day and the stories of the many colorful personalities who contributed to the company's success. *

With that all said and done here are Three Good Reasons as to why you should see this film:

1) Chess Records was known as "America's greatest blues label." Check out the soundtrack of this movie to find out why.
2) Oscar winner Adrien Brody is joined by a veritable "Who's Who" of modern African-American acting and musical talent including Jeffrey Wright, Beyonce Knowles, Cedric the Entertainer, Gabrielle Union and Mos Def.
3) Costume designer Johnetta Boone's 1950s fashions are a nostalgic delight, and make the men and women of the cast look equally fabulous.
