It blows the mind away...2012

"We Were Warned..."

I knew there was something special about this movie when I saw the trailer this past summer, and it did not disappoint!!

There's something about a great plot, great special (sound) effects, and great character, that is pretty a combination a solid film in my book. 2012 which is loosely based on the 2012 phenomenon will definitely get your mind stirring and taking second thoughts on life. The film portrays cataclysmic events unfolding in the year 2012, as part of a possible prediction from the Mayan Calendar.

Let me warn you there is a bit of a slow start, however it will pick up and take you for an exciting ride. You will probably be clinching the seat till the end. Director Roland Emmerich clearly had fun making this movie, as we the audience did watching it. (Remember Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow, and Independence Day...enough said.)

Some may say that this movie is an insult to human intelligence, but I beg to differ. If you take this film to literally, you are just spoiling yourself a good movie. Who is to say that this will happen, but if you thought about making a small change to your life after watching this film, then I think the movie has done its job. Keep in mind this movie is fiction and there is room for creativity to spice things up.

2012 is an awesome movie that was made to be seen on the big screen for the full effect, A MUST SEE!!! The best part of the film is the ending, and not because it was over, but the fact the final picture that is shown is somewhat of an accurate "photo statement." As the saying goes, "a picture can say a thousand words" will the ending of 2012 does just that for you. Now check this out, something interested that I noticed was that I happen to see this film at an 8:12 pm showtime (which is 20:12 on a 24 hour clock), now what a great way to coincide with the film's title.

Grade: A

Sidebar: 2012 was originally scheduled to be released on July 10, 2009. The release date was changed to November, 2009 to move out of the busy summer schedule into a time frame that the studio considered to have more potential for financial success. According to the studio, the film could have been completed for the summer release date, but the date change will give more time to the production. I find this interesting becuse this definitely would have been a summer blockbuster!!
