Happy Birthday Prince!!

In honor of "The Artist" birthday I definitely wanted to showcase his award-winning flick, Purple Rain. The birthday boy would make his film debut in this movie, which would hone in and at the same time showcase his extreme talents. Here was a film that was created during Prince's Triple Threat tour, and he probably never thought it would become the classic that it is today. Initially Warner Brothers was hesitant to consider the film at the time, but music industry PR Howard Bloom would change all of that and get the film distributed.

The soundtrack with the same name would include three hit singles "Let's Go Crazy", "When Doves Cry", and "Purple Rain". Purple Rain would end up winning an Academy Award for Best Original Score and take note, this would be the last time this award has been given.Watching Purple Rain you can't help but recognize the power that this film possesses. It is able to transcend, transform and uplift through the music. Because when you think about it this movie is not about the acting, it's clearly about the music! The music takes on this role of good versus evil and plays out on the screen.

All in all, Purple Rain would become an instant cult classic. This is truly an ode to the 80's so you can guarantee that it will forever be in the history books.

Happy 53rd Birthday Prince!!

So let's party like it's 1999!!
