Sequel for 'Star Trek' already in the works

Say it ain't so...the long awaited Star Trek film has not even come out yet (May 8) and folks already anxious to put a sequel into the making. Variety tells us that Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof will write the screenplay for the follow-up, with everyone tentatively eying a summer 2011 release.

As far as the sequel’s storyline goes, everyone is sorta waiting for fan reaction before they get to work. Kurtzman says, "Obviously we discussed ideas, but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month." So pay attention to what you like and don’t like about this Star Trek reboot because the filmmakers will certainly be paying attention to your feedback.

Are you excited? And would it even be necessary? You be the judge...

This is a pretty statement for them to make, especially without public opinions tallied up, but hey, this can either be a good or bad statement to utter.

I can't be mad at any movie producer who feels his movie will be good enough to warrant a sequel and I must admit, I'll more than likely see the May 2009 installment.

Only time will tell if the 2009 'Star Trek' will be a blockbuster and I'm looking forward to it.
