Temptation: Confession of a Marriage Counselor is a comedy-drama that tells the story of a bold exploration of the intrigue and perils of infidelity.

Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor is a compelling love story that dives straight into the heart of obsessive passion. “It's about a woman who starts to get restless in her relationship and her choice to be with another man has a huge effect on the rest of her life," explains screenwriter/producer/director Tyler Perry. "She goes on a journey – in her career and in her marriage – and she ends up in a very different place than she expected." In a departure from his previous dramas, this explosive film finds Perry exploring the nature of desire – and just how powerful and dangerous a taste of the forbidden can be. 

"This is definitely one of the most provocative movies – sexually and otherwise – that I've made," says the director. "There are a lot of people who struggle in their relationships. They make bad choices about their marriages. They get divorced. And so many of them don't step out of their situation and really think about the consequences of what they're doing. This movie asks, 'Are you sure you want to do this?’ It sends up a flag." 

This star-studded cast includes Lance Gross, Brandy Norwood, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Vanessa Williams, Jerry Stiller, Kim Kardashian, and others.

The film is set to hit theaters March 29th, 2013.

Madea's Big Happy Family...Just in time for Easter

As many of you know, tis the season for the "midnight shows". And my first one for the year is Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family.

What a more appropriate movie to come out during the Easter weekend. Here is a movie that gives you all the basics good actors, decent plot, important lessons/messages, and of course laughter. This is Tyler Perry's 11th film that he has directed and/or written and with each year I definitely see progression (6th in which the Madea character plays a role). With this movie in particular we have somewhat of a completely new cast (Shannon Kane, Rodney Perry, Teyana Taylor) with a seasoned veteran (Loretta Devine), we even get to see the "Old Spice" guy in a serious role.

Here's a small synopsis just to get the ball rolling...

Madea jumps into action when her niece, Shirley, receives distressing news about her health. All Shirley wants is to gather her three adult children around her and share the news as a family. But Tammy, Kimberly and Byron are too distracted by their own problems: Tammy can't manage her unruly children or her broken marriage; Kimberly is gripped with anger and takes it out on her husband; and Byron, after spending two years in jail, is under pressure to deal drugs again. It's up to Madea, with the help of the equally rambunctious Aunt Bam, to gather the clan together and make things right the only way she knows how: with a lot of tough love, laughter ... and the revelation of a long-buried family secret. -Lionsgate

For the most part we the viewer get an opportunity to see if this family can get on one accord for the sake of their mother. As much as it may come off as foolish or "shucking and jiving" I can appreciate the style in which Tyler Perry uses to get his point across. We all may not agree with the method, but the end result still keeps us coming back for more.

So many messages are in this movie, you might not realize that its playing a dual role, to teach and to entertain. As a matter fact many of the topics that were discussed probably will hit very close to home (violative sibling rivalry, respect for parents/elders, "baby-daddy & baby-mama drama", rape, keeping secrets). I must point out something interesting about the Madea character. Although she is still her same feisty self, in this movie she seems to tone it down just a little. Her character is so convincing, for just a brief moment you forget about her shenanigans.

As always we get there are messages that we must take from the film, but this one seemed to be more of movie that geared at making you laugh versus being a teachable moment. Now maybe that was the plan, or maybe not.

The central theme with this movie is the importance of family communication. So often we get wrapped up my family does this, and my family does that, that we forget about the simple things. Shirley (Loretta Devine) just wants her family to be together just one last time, is that too much to ask for these days? But until everyone can see past their own spotlight, that will never be accomplished.

In addition to the central theme/focus there was actually some pretty good acting.  Of course Ms. Devine always puts on an excellent performance, maybe soon she will get the recognition that she deserves. Now there were three folks in particular that surprised me and in a good way. Shad "Bow Wow" Moss, Cassi Davis, and Isaiah Mustafa all seemed to put a little bit more "acting power" than their fellow cast mates. Each one of them stood out for me partly because they played a significant role to the family. Without giving too much Davis, Moss, and Mustafa are like the glue that keeps everything together. Then you have some pretty good performances from comedian Rodney Perry (Harold) and Teyana Taylor (Sabrina) who definitely add some comic relief. And we can't forget Mr. Brown and Cora (David & Tamala Mann) their performances speak for themselves.

Now we can talk about the fact that Tyler Perry dresses up like a woman all day everyday, but when it boils down the question for me will still remain "what's the bigger picture?" I am all for one not promoting negative stereotypes. But at the same time we can learn from them, its kind of like looking at a mirror and seeing our faults so that we can correct them.

All in all, its a pretty good movie for what it is worth. As with most of Perry's film all the family can check this out and get something that they can take home with them.

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this movie that is set to hit theaters November 5th, 2010. What is the movie that I speak of, Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls! Everything about this movie reads powerful. And you have read the book seen the plays or both then you know exactly what I am talking about.  Well I just had to shear this message from Tyler Perry himself regarding the upcoming film. A Message from Tyler Perry...Something's Gotta Give

Hey there, I know I haven't written in a while, but I've been crazy busy with 154 performances since the top of the year. I filmed two movies this summer and I haven't had a break. It's all too much! Something's gotta
give here. I'm exhausted.  Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about FOR COLORED GIRLS.

We are only a little more than 3 weeks out from FOR COLORED GIRLS, which opens on November 5th.  Wow, time is flying! I wanted to talk to you for just a second about this film. There has been a lot of Internet chatter about me doing this film. I've heard everything from, "I'm glad he's doing it!", to "How dare he touch this!".  Believe me, I know that this is sensitive material and I handled it that way. If you don't believe me see for yourself on November 5th.

If you know anything about the book or play, FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF, which is what my film is based on, then you know that it is one of the most powerful literary works of this century. But, if you know it, you are also thinking like I was, "How can I make this into a movie?"

After reading the play a thousand times and listening to these poems a million times, it hit me.  There was only one way to approach it.  So what I did was, I put these characters in the situations around the poems, so that they could speak the dialogue of the book without it sounding like a poem. And I have to tell you, I wasn't sure that it could be done. But, after listening to Phylicia Rashad, Thandie Newton, Kerry Washington, Macy Gray, Kimberly Elise, Tessa Thompson, Whoopi Goldberg, Loretta Devine, Anika Noni Rose and Janet Jackson say these words it was awesomely seemless.

The stories are about eight women who live in NYC and we follow them through their lives; follow them through loving, losing, giving too much of themselves, being hurt and betrayed, but most of all, we follow each of these women as they find love for themselves.

This movie is powerful.  It is incredible.  The performances in it are astonishing, but most of all this film will leave you lifted.

I don't know if you know this either, but never in the history of a feature film has there been an ensemble of this many black women.  That alone is worth celebrating. I hope you are planning to see it on November 5th.

By the way, you don't have to be a colored girl to be able to relate to and enjoy this movie.

Early November release for Tyler Perry's 'For Colored Girls'

It has been recently reported that Lionsgate will release 'Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls... on Nov. 5, 2010 instead of its original launch date during Martin Luther King weekend in (January) 2011.

With an earlier release date it would put the film in time for year-end awards consideration, and also continues Perry's streak of releasing at least one film per year since 2005.

"It's a serious film that really lends itself to the fall period. From talking with exhibitors, I know they're really excited to have another Tyler Perry film this year," said Lionsgate's executive vice-president and general sales manager David Spitz.

Competing against the film on November 5 will be the Paramount-DreamWorks Animation's 3D toon Megamind, starring Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, and Brad Pitt and Warner Bros.' Todd Phillips-directed Due Date, with Robert Downey, Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan, and Jaime Foxx.

Tyler Perry to produce new film 'We The Peeples'

Tyler Perry Studios and its production arm 34th Street Films have just announced pre-production of their latest film, We the Peeples. The film is written and will be directed by Tina Gordon Chism (She has previously written the screenplays for Drumline and ATL.)

We the Peeples will begin filming in September and tells the tale of a couple whose relationship goes awry when the guy makes an unexpected entrance at the girl’s annual family party.

Perry launched 34th Street Films a couple of years ago to help open doors for new filmmakers. We the Peeples will present Gordon Chism, best known for her screenplays, with her first opportunity to direct.


We the Peeples is scheduled for release in 2011under Perry's distributor, Lionsgate.

Writer/director/star Tyler Perry becomes the first filmmaker to win two Purple Filmstrip Awards, with his latest film within the same year-- featuring another appearance by his alter-ego Madea.

This is definitely a great flick for the family with many lessons to learn and of course plenty of humor to boot as well! A MUST SEE!!

Another Lesson Learned...

Another lesson has been taught in the newest Tyler Perry film, I Can Do Bad All By Myself. And with this one I can truly appreciate the message that was being delivered.

Throughout this film I had chills all over, partly do to the fact that it was grounded with such a spiritual foundation. Perry has an unique way of combining the new with the old (seasoned) and this film continues with that legacy.

Gladys Knight and Pastor Marvin Winans do an EXCELLENT job with their acting and especially their singing. Their roles seemed almost effortless from beginning to end. Ms. Tariji (April) gives us another great role, she is able to give us the "angry black woman" and then turn it off and give us the soft, sensitive side. It is also comforting to see the great character chemistry between her and co-star Adam Rodriguez (Sandino) you can't help but feel it. And we can't forget the sneak in performance of R&B queen Mary J. Blige.

In this movie, there are definite parts that are meant to be funny, were really funny and parts that were meant to be serious, were really serious; all in all it truly reflects the Black experience. I would definitely say I got my money's worth. You can't help but want to reach out an grab every child you know and hold them for an eternity after watching this movie. You can't help but tell the one's that you love how much you appreciate them. Cherish every moment!!

I must admit there is something about Tyler Perry's stage plays turned to film/movies, maybe it's just me but I think they are somewhat made for the non-thinkers. When I say this I am meaning there are many things that occur in this film that have obvious solutions and/or ramifications. BUT, please note they may not necessarily be a bad thing its just that some people may see one thing and others may see another. Even with all of that said, I will say this is one of his better films that is previously a stage play. It stuck to the original story with very few minor deviations.

Overall, the acting, writing and directing was on point. Tyler definitely got several messages through this movie. Whether it was about an aunt's selfishness and stunted capability to love and express that love.... Or about child molestation and how we can sometimes turn a blind eye toward it.... Message about loving without requiring ulterior motives... And about faith in God. It definitely will get your soul-stirring...

Triple R&B Threats grabbing NAACP Image Award Noms

According to the Associated Press, in Beverly Hills, CA...Beyonce Knowles , Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson are all double threats for the NAACP Image Awards , earning nominations in both music and film categories. Knowles, Keys and Hudson are competing for outstanding female music artist and for best music video. They are also nominated for supporting film actress, Keys and Hudson for " The Secret Life of Bees " and Knowles for "Cadillac Records."

" Cadillac Records " and "The Secret Life of Bees" are best-picture contenders, along with " Miracle at St. Anna ", " Seven Pounds " and " Tyler Perry 's the Family That Preys."

The Image Awards honoring diversity in the arts will be presented Feb. 12.

Top Model to wed Top Payne!!

America's Next Top Model winner Eva Marcille (formerly Eva Pigford) said yes when Tyler Perry's House of Payne star Lance Gross popped the question Christmas Eve.

The couple, who met at an audition two years ago, were surrounded by family and friends when Gross went down on his knee

And Lance and Eva hit up Essence.com with the quickness to dish about their relationship:
Actor Lance Gross got on bended knee and proposed to girlfriend and costar Eva Marcille in front of their families on Christmas Eve to propose.

“I knew the day I laid eyes on her because I just got that feeling,” says Gross who said he fell in love with Marcille instantly. “She took full control of my heart and is the only woman that has ever made me feel that way—that’s how I knew she was special.”

Surrounded by family and friends, Gross got on bended knee and presented Marcille with a 3.36 1895 Pave Cartier ring.

“I cried. It was totally unexpected. I’m still in shock,” says Marcille. “I could not even sleep because I was afraid that I might wake up from the most beautiful dream ever.”

The two haven’t set a wedding date but are strongly considering a summer wedding in 2010.

“To put it simply, he makes me a better me,” says Marcille.” I am now complete.”

For All my Madea Fans...she's back!!

Well it has been a minute since we have seen Madea showcased in Tyler Perry's film series but it seems like it was well worth the wait. I have always been a fan of Tyler Perry's movies and his stage plays as well. So this was a treat for me to see that one of my favorite stage plays will be on film, Madea Goes to Jail. Well here's a brief synopsis as well as the trailer for your viewing.

After a high-speed freeway chase puts Madea (Tyler Perry) in front of the judge, her reprieve is short-lived as anger management issues get the best of her and land her in jail. A gleeful Joe (Tyler Perry) couldn’t be happier at Madea’s misfortune. But Madea’s eccentric family members the Browns (David and Tamala Mann) rally behind her, lending their special “country” brand of support. Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Hardaway (Derek Luke) is on the fast track to career success. But Hardaway lands a case too personal to handle - defending young prostitute and former drug addict Candace Washington (Keisha Knight Pulliam)—and asks his fiancé and fellow ADA Linda Holmes (Ion Overman) to fill in on his behalf. When Candace ends up in jail, Madea befriends the young woman, protecting her in a “motherly” way as only Madea can.
