'Die Hard 5' Could Be in the Making*

Remember the line "Yippee ki-yay, mother----er!" Well you may get to here it again as a 'Die Hard 5' script is currently being negotiated. 

The A-Team and X-Men Origins: Wolverine writer Skip Woods is in negotiations with Fox to script a fifth movie in the series starring Bruce Willis as John McClane, a New York City cop with a knack for ending up in sticky situations. 

The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Business blog reports that there are no story details available yet. Former Fox exec Alex Young will produce, with 'Die Hard 5' joining a production slate that also includes "The A-Team, Predators, Unstoppable and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

MTV spoke to Willis in February, shortly before the release of the Kevin Smith-directed buddy cop comedy "Cop Out," and he mentioned plans for another John McClane adventure. "I think we're going to do a 'Die Hard 5' next year," he said. "[The story's] got to go worldwide. That would be my contribution to it."

Willis also admitted that he'd like to reteam with his director from the franchise's fourth outing, Live Free or Die Hard (2007). "I would hire Len Wiseman right now," he said. There's still time, with Woods in the negotiations stage with Fox and the script presumably unwritten.

Willis will next be seen sharing the screen with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone in the 'Rocky' star's ensemble summer actioner The Expendables. He'll also be seen in October in "Red," a feature adaptation of the Warren Ellis-penned comic books. Willis will be back on-set at the end of the summer when he starts shooting 'Kane & Lynch,' a long-talked-about video game adaptation, for Lionsgate.

Rewind Wenesday: The Last Boy Scout

Today's Rewind Wednesday feature, The Last Boy Scout was recommended by a fellow blogger RemarkableFashion. It came on TVOne last night and I just couldn't help but showcase it on today.

The Last Boy Scout is a 1991 action film starring Bruce Willis as a former Secret Service agent, now working as a private detective, and Damon Wayans as a retired professional football player. The two join forces to solve the murder of Wayans' character’s girlfriend (played by the then-little known Halle Berry). The movie was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and Geffen Pictures and directed by Tony Scott.


Bruce Willis stars as Joe Hallenbeck, who was once a top-of-the-line Secret Service agent but has since become an alcoholic, flea-bag detective. While performing the chores of a two-bit shamus, he discovers his wife Sarah (Chelsea Field) is having an affair with his best friend. Joe is hired to protect Cory (Halle Berry), a stripper who has been getting death threats; Joe begins to sober up when Cory is blown to smithereens. Cory's boyfriend, Jimmy Dix (Damon Wayans), was at one time a NFL football quarterback, but was thrown out of the game for gambling and addiction to Demerol. Smelling something fishy, Joe and Jimmy begin to investigate further and discover layers of corruption in professional football circles, leading up to Sheldon Marcone (Noble Willingham), a corrupt team owner who wants to pay off legislators to legalize gambling on pro football games. This is one of those movies that makes you enjoy the action-team effort that it presents. Willis and Wayans do an excellent job of keeping us entertained and at the same time giving us some great action.

Now if there is a film-goer alive whose mouth didn't gape in amusement at this opening scene then I am truly shocked and amazed. Take a look for yourself:
