Tom Cruise has chosen to accept a fourth impossible mission as super-spy Ethan Hunt, and he's assembling a new team to help him save the world again. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news on Tuesday (9/28) that "Lost" star Josh Holloway will join the cast as a member of Cruise's Impossible Missions Force. Appropriately, "Lost" creator J. J. Abrams, who left the show to direct "M:I 3, is producing this new chapter. Well have a couple more folks that could be in the starting line-up as well. Check it out:
Jeremy Renner, star of last year's Best Picture winner The Hurt Locker, signed on to join the movie earlier this month. There is speculation that he is being groomed to take over the franchise if Tom Cruise leaves. Renner wouldn't confirm that to be true, but he did tell Access Hollywood, "I'd love for that to happen.
Paula Patton, who costarred in 2009's Precious, nabbed the lead female role as a young spy. Patton had originally been cast as the new ADA on "Law and Order: SVU," but left the show when she got the "Mission: Impossible" job.
Michael Nvqvist the Swedish actor best known for playing journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the movie version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo -- will be the bad guy in the new flick.
Respected Russian actor Vladimir Mashkov has been confirmed as playing a role, but it has not been disclosed if he's an ally or an enemy to Cruise's character.
Ving Rhames the only other actor besides Tom Cruise to appear in the first three "Mission: Impossible" films, is definitely coming back for the fourth. Simon Pegg, who played the tech expert in "M:I 3" is slated to come back as well. It's been rumored but not yet confirmed that Maggie Q and Jonathan Rhys Meyers will also reprise their roles.
The fourth "Mission: Impossible" movie will drop into theaters in December, 2011. Quite the line-up!
